The publication last weekend of the latest edition of the Michelin Guide Rouge for Main Cities of Europe caused no palpitations for Helsinki restaurateurs.
The only changes on the Finnish front were that two establishments - Serata and Lyon - were awarded the Bib Gourmand marking, indicating value for money, or good food at moderate prices.
Two other restaurants in Helsinki - Safka and La Petite Maison - held on to their earlier Bib Gourmand recommendations.
The actual Michelin stars were all unchanged. Chez Dominique on Ludviginkatu continues to enjoy two of them, while G.W. Sundmans on Eteläranta and George on Kalevankatu both held on to their single star.
For German-born Andreas Patenge, owner of Serata, the Michelin nod came as a slight surprise, since the restaurant has not been open very long. The management rather anticipated they would get noticed, but not for a year or two more.
