The number of drunken driving cases is now at its lowest in Finland since the middle of the 1990s.
According to preliminary data of Statistics Finland, the number of drunken driving cases uncovered by the police in 2010 was 21,000, which was 10 per cent fewer than in the previous year.
The number of aggravated drunken driving cases fell by nine per cent.
There were a number of other reductions in criminal behaviour: even the number of robberies, frauds, and wilful damage cases known to the police was lower than in 2009.
The number of robberies in 2010 was the lowest in the entire 2000s.
When it comes to other crimes, the number of aggravated offences involving narcotics nevertheless increased by one-fifth. The number of discovered drug-related crimes was approximately 1,100.
