The Organisation on Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) does not plan to send monitors to Finland to observe next month's Parliamentary elections, said Finland's Ministry for Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
An assessment group representing the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) visited in Finland in January and February, assessing Finnish electoral legislation, the election campaign, the registration of voters, and information about the elections.
The group met with representatives of election boards, parties, the media, and civic organisations.
The group concluded that there is no need to monitor the Finnish elections. The group made note of Finland's hundred-year Parliamentary tradition, and the confidence that there is in democratic elections.
The 56 member states of the OSCE are committed to invite international observers to monitor elections.
