Opponents of Lex Nokia to launch TV advertising campaign on MTV3

 print this
Opponents of the so-called ”Lex Nokia” - also known as the ”snooping law” - intend to launch a television advertising campaign against the proposed amendment to the Act on Data Protection of Electronic Communications.
Three different advertisements are to be presented on the commercial television network MTV3 at the beginning of next week.

Apart from election campaigning, political television advertisements have been seldom seen in Finland.
The funding for the advertisements against the amendment has been gathered from the users of the Internet, and the advertisements have been designed by some communications experts.
The ”Lex Nokia” - or officially the bill for an amendment to the Act on Data Protection of Electronic Communications - is to be brought before Parliament in early spring.

According to some critics, the proposed amendment would allow companies, schools, libraries, and housing companies to investigate and control Internet users’ e-mail communications, Net surfing, and messaging.
