The Finnish state-controlled arms manufacturer Patria’s substantial deal to provide the Swedish Defence Forces with armoured modular vehicles (AMVs) is to be taken under consideration in the Stockholm County Administrative Court once again.
According to the Swedish News Agency TT, a complaint before the court has been filed by Patria’s Swiss rival Mowag.
The complaint concerns the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration’s (FMV) decision to award Patria the contract to provide the Swedish land forces with 113 Patria AMVs. The handling of the complaint is estimated to take several weeks.
This was already the second time for Patria to win the competitive bidding for these vehicles, which is why the company continues to be confident about the deal. Heikki Allonen, President and CEO of the Patria Group, regards it as surprising that another complaint against the same deal has been filed, as the process has been carefully prepared. He does not believe that the postponement could cause Patria significant losses.
Allonen cannot estimate whether Mowag’s suit could be successful, as he is not familiar with the grounds for the complaint.
