Peugeot is to recall 15,548 of its 307 model cars sold in Finland between 2003-2006, over a quality control issue.
In September-November this year, Peugeot will send service invitations to the vehicle owners in several batches, simply because of the exceptionally large number of cars that need to be checked.

Across Europe, the recall concerns 240,000 vehicles, including 80,000 in Germany.
This is Peugeot's third recall in as many years for its 307 model.
For the vehicle owners, the service is free.

In follow-up quality control examinations Peugeot found a defect in the waterproofing of lead connectors of the model's anti-lock brakes and associated ESP (Electronic Skid Prevention) system. The problem could potentially lead to a short-circuit in either system.
"A short-circuit might result when salt water causes corrosion in the connectors. This is just a pre-emptive campaign. There have been no reported problems of this nature in Finland", says director Vesa Savela of Maan Auto Oy, Finland’s Peugeot importer.
