Poju Zabludowicz, 57, who spent his childhood in Finland, was the 31st richest person living in Great Britain at the end of last year, with an estimated fortune of 1.5 billion pounds (EUR 1.7 billion), The Sunday Times reports.
The property investor slipped down the list, even though his wealth remained unchanged. The year before last he was ranked as the 18th richest individual in the UK.
Zabludowicz, who shies away from the public eye, owns properties and hotels for example in Las Vegas in the United States.

Through his company Zabludowicz, who grew up in Tampere, is also the owner of the Tampere Tappara ice hockey team.
Some time ago he played host at his summer villa in the southern village of Pernaja to the pop superstar Madonna during the singer’s visit to Finland.
Zabludowicz’s family fortune was originally created through arms deals. Poju’s father Shlomo manufactured mortars designed by Finnish Tampella on licence in Israel.
Each year The Sunday Times compiles a list of Britain’s 1,000 richest people. In the past year the collective wealth of the top dogs increased by almost a third, despite the uncertain economic situation in the world.
The number one spot was retained by the steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, whose wealth The Sunday Times estimated at around EUR 26 billion. The steel tycoon’s fortune has more than doubled from last year.
The runner-up position went to Roman Abramovich, the oil and industry magnate who is also the owner of Chelsea FC. According to the paper he was worth EUR 8.6bn - up six per cent on last year.

The richest Briton on the list was the Duke of Westminster, property owner Gerald Grosvenor, whose company the Grosvenor Group owns large portions of Central London.
The Sunday Times list of the mega-wealthy is based on estimates by the editorial office, and accepts foreign nationals who are resident in the UK or persons with very large holdings there.
For example media mogul Rupert Murdoch (owner of the newspaper and its colleague The Times) is not on the list, because he resides permanently in New York.
