During the police crackdown on drunk driving carried out in Finland last week, more than 32,000 motorists were asked to take a breathalyser test.
The intensive traffic control campaign revealed 132 drivers suspected of driving while intoxicated, six of whom were suspected of driving under the influence of drugs.
During a similar raid a year ago, a total of 38,000 motorists were involved in the police alcometric screenings, while the number of drunk drivers was 220.
The intensive traffic control campaign was carried out simultaneously in all member-states of the European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL).
A total of more than 10,000 European road users are killed every year as a consequence of drunk driving.
