Emotions linked strike reached fever pitch in places, and police were called in three locations.
At Helsinki's Western Harbour,  police were needed to protect workers of Containerships Ltd, who are not members of the Finnish Transport Workers’ Union (AKT).
In Espoo, police looked into scuffles between strike pickets and bus drivers who crossed the picket lines, and in Vantaa, eggs were thrown at a driver at a bus stop.
No serious violence was reported on Thursday.

While municipally-employed crane operators at the Port of Helsinki refused to load or unload ships, Containerships was able to deal with two vessels using cranes owned by the company itself.
Containerships had agreed with police on measures to protect its workers against harassment by strikers.

ADR-Haanpää, the largest tank lorry company in the Nordic Countries, was hit by an AKT support strike on Thursday.
CEO Lasse Paitsola says that pickets have prevented deliveries of critical chemicals.
Water treatment plants have not been getting substances that they need, and highway salt is also not moving, which is a problem now that temperatures have dropped below freezing throughout Finland.
