Pollen report: Flowering of grasses has started in Southern Finland

According to a pollen report released by the Aerobiology Unit of the University of Turku, birch flowering is continuing in Southeastern Finland as well as in the area stretching from the central parts of the country to Southern Lapland, with pollen counts for birch being high.
In Southwestern Finland and in the province of Uusimaa, the pollen counts for birch have decreased to moderate, while in Northern Lapland they are still very low.
Most of those who are sensitized to this pollen type are now experiencing symptoms across the country.
Even the flowering of grasses has started in Southern Finland, though the pollen counts remain low as yet. However, the most sensitive persons allergic to the pollen type can have hay fever symptoms in the area.
While dandelions are flowering in the southern and central parts of the country, the handling of them can cause symptoms to those persons who are allergic to mugwort. The flowering of willow is also continuing in the entire country.
Many decorative trees belonging to the Rosaceae family, as well as aspen and maple, are blooming in the southern and central parts of Finland, while oak - traditionally late in coming into leaf - is flowering only in the southernmost parts of the country.
