
Pop singer Kirka dies at age 56
Finnish pop singer Kirill Babitzin, or Kirka died on Tuesday night of a sudden illness at his home in Helsinki.
Born on September 9th, 1950, Kirka was one of the best-selling recording artists in Finland.
A performer since childhood, Kirka made his breakthrough with his hit Hetki lyö, a Finnish version of Beat the Clock by The McCoys.
In 1984 Kirka represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Hengaillaan.
During his career Kirka Babitzin received numerous awards, including the Emma statue as the male soloist for the year in both 1984 and 2000.
