Susan Ruusunen, the ex-girlfriend of Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen (Centre), has decided to ask for permission to appeal the decision on her kiss-and-tell book to the Supreme Court.

The Helsinki Court of Appeals last week found Susan Ruusunen and her publisher Kari Ojala guilty of violating the privacy of Matti Vanhanen. They were sentenced to pay fines and damages.
The issue at hand was the book Pääministerin morsian (“The Prime Minister’s Bride”), in which Ruusunen reveals information about her nearly one-year relationship with Vanhanen.
An earlier district court decision in March 2008 had acquitted both defendants.
Publisher Kari Ojala has not decided yet whether or not to appeal the court ruling.
