Rain and sleet predicted for Southern Finland

There is a good possibly for a fair amount of wet snow in Southern Finland on Friday, predicts the latest weather forecast. According to meteorologist-on-duty Salme Kyröhonka of the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the prediction for the path of the low pressure system has become more accurate since the beginning of the week.
The centre of the system will pass just south of Finland. South of the Porvoo-Pori line, especially inland, there is a distinct possibility of wet snow, whereas in the coastal areas the precipitation will come down as rain", Kyröhonka predicts.
The wet front, however, will pass over Finland quickly without forming any actual snow cover on the ground.
"Saturday night is still going to be relatively cold, but after that a warmer period will follow", says Kyröhonka.
In the next couple of days the temperatures will be below the long-term average for this time of year. On Thursday, the northern parts of the country may experience light local sleet or show showers.
The snow that covered the ground in parts of Northern and Eastern Finland on Wednesday morning has since melted. "The permanent snow will still keep us waiting. These are just the first attempts", Kyröhonka comments.
In the Northern Ostrobothnia region in the west of the country, the roads were icy and extremely slippery after a cold night on Wednesday morning, causing several shunts and cars swerving off the road.
