The magic spell of not raining on the Night of the Arts was well and truly broken this year, when rain poured down on the participants in the 16th holding of the culture carnival on Thursday.
Police estimate that fewer than 10,000 people took part in last night’s events in Helsinki. In some years, as many as 80,000 friends of culture have turned out for the evening.
The police had expected a busy night and were prepared to have extra officers on hand, but rain dampened the high spirits and the night was quiet after all.
