Remembrance flowers for TV soap character in Helsinki

So it has come to this, even in Finland. Seldom has a TV serial episode caused such reactions in Finnish society as did the accident befalling one of the characters in commercial channel MTV3's ongoing daily soap Salatut elämät (Secret Lives).
     
The character Ken Ojala was hit by a tram in last Thursday's episode, and according to the story, he is currently lying in hospital in a critical condition.
      The scene was filmed in one of the streets in downtown Helsinki - Pursimiehenkatu - and on Tuesday, flowers and candles had appeared at the "scene of the accident".
      "It is nice that my character has aroused feelings among viewers. However, people should always remember the difference between fiction and reality", comments actor Aleksi Sariola to his fans.
      Sariola is reportedly "as well as can be expected".
