Savonlinna Opera Festival invites Internet users to send ideas for a new opera

Savonlinna Opera Festival invites Internet users to send ideas for a new opera
 print this
The Savonlinna Opera Festival is calling all Internet users to contribute to the creating of a new opera that is to be premiered in the Opera Festival in the summer of 2012.

The aim of the project is to receive stories, including texts themselves, staging visions, and much more.
A working group, including a librettist and a composer, will select the ideas to be jointly worked on further.
The names of the ”youngish” librettist and composer will be announced later.

”We want to have the young involved. Writing an opera is a solitary job. Now we hope that we will be able to benefit from interaction from the very beginning. Those who think up the best ideas will be involved in the production itself”, says General Director Jan Hultin.
The working language will be English.
The Opera Festival will announce its working group and the Internet link to be used in March 2010.
