Scuffles at support demo for evicted squatters
Minor scuffles were reported on Tuesday evening at a demonstration in support of a group of squatters who were evicted from a building on Vuorikatu in the centre of Helsinki on Monday.
Police said that a few demonstrators clashed with passers-by. No serious injuries were reported, and police detained the people involved.
The march proceeded from the Kiasma - the Museum of Contemporary Art - to the area where the building in question is located.
A few dozen demonstrators later went to the police station where the protesters who were detained were being held.
In front of the police station, the police detained three more demonstrators for "violently resisting" the police.
Taking part in the demonstration were about 140 young protesters.
