A settlement was reached on Tuesday in collective bargaining talks between the Federation of the Finnish Media Industry (VKL) and the Finnish Union of Journalists.
The deal worked out will affect some 8,000 journalists.
The board of the Union of Journalists will unanimously recommend members accept the agreement at a meeting to be held on Friday. The employers' side is to meet to discuss the terms of the agreement next week.
The collective bargaining deal would run until the end of April 2011, and contains a calculated wage increase of 11.2% over the period, with additional benefits for those on minimum scale. The first of three increases - in this case of 3% - will become payable with immediate effect.
Talks broke down last week and the threat of a strike was imminent, as both sides pondered whether to call in the services of the National Conciliator's office.
