Finland is to be the first Nordic country where sex toys will become widely available at ordinary supermarket.
Kesko is bringing sex equipment onto the shelves of the Citymarket chain. The products, marketed by the Swedish RFSU, include goods such as massage oils and dildos. Tomi Lahtela of RFSU Finland says that of all Nordic consumers, the Finns are the most willing to experiment with sex toys.
“Supermarkets already serve people’s needs in health and well-being. Therefore it is appropriate to bring products that promote sexual well-being into the selection.”
In a Nordic study commissioned by RFSU, 65 per cent of Finns aged 20 to 45 said that they could imagine buying high-quality sex toys.
