 print this
The Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša has issued a request to the country's state prosecutor to open an investigation on a current affairs programme screened by the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE.
The matter was reported on Tuesday by the lawyers representing Jansa.

At the beginning of September, YLE's investigative journalism programme MOT reported that Janša and several other high-ranking Slovenian figures had taken bribes from Finnish arms manufacturer Patria in connection weith a deal to supply armoured personnel carriers and other hardware to the Slovenian defence forces. The request for investigation centres on the MOT journalist.

According to Janša's legal team, the claims made in the programme amount to defamation of character.
Janša is also considering bringing a civil case against the journalist in the near future.
