Somali community not planning to take legal action against MP Salo

 print this
The Somali community in Finland does not intend to take legal action against MP Petri Salo (National Coalition) over his ill-advised comments on the Somali immigrants’ attitudes towards work.
While convening to consider Salo’s remarks on Thursday, the Board of the Somali League in Finland came to the conclusion that Salo’s prejudiced comments were just his own individual opinions.

The secretary of the League, Faisal Dahir Nur, stated to the Finnish News Agency (STT) that in order to correct the prejudices, the League will invite MP Salo and his party colleagues to come and get acquainted with the operation of the Somali League in Finland.
The issue created a minor sensation early this week after the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE’s Swedish-language unit (FST) had aired a video clip filmed clandestinely at an election event in Vaasa, revealing Petri Salo’s allegedly racist view of Somali immigrants.
