Tiia Piili wins her second Aerobics World Championship title
Tiia Piili, 25, won her second world crown at the Federation of International Sports Aerobics and Fitness World Championships in Adelaide on Sunday, taking the women’s title by an overwhelming margin. All of the seven judges placed her in the top spot. She was also World Champion in 2001, and has a further two silver medals and one bronze to her name.
It was a good weekend all round for Finnish entrants. Hannele Puikkonen was 5th in the women’s event, and among the men Jouni Viitanen took silver and Juuso Väisänen was 6th. In the team competitions, a gold medal also went to the seven-member Team Spirit from Turku and a bronze in the step aerobics event to Bic Star of Vihti.
