Two people lost in crash of light plane in Finnish Lapland
A small plane fell into Lake Äkäslompolo in Kolari in the western part of Finnish Lapland on Sunday evening.
The plane sank into the lake at about half past five, approximately 200 metres from the shore. Officials believe that two people were killed in the crash.
Units of the fire brigades of Kittilä, Kolari, and Muonio and a police unit failed to find the wreckage on Sunday.
Police say that the search on Friday night was hampered by darkness, fog, and rain. The efforts were resumed Monday morning.
