Two Finns have so far purchased a ticket for a suborbital spaceflight with Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, the Finnish travel agency Area reports.
The first spaceflight to a holder of a Finnish passport was sold last week and the second one earlier this week. The identities of the astronaut candidates have been kept secret.
The buyer of the second ticket is said to have opted for remaining anonymous for the time being but may possibly come out in public at a later date.
So far Virgin Galactic has sold around 300 spaceflights worldwide.
While the project is still in the test-flight stage, plans have been laid for Virgin Galactic to commence its commercial spaceflights from the United States next year and from Sweden a year after that.
The price of one ticket is a measly USD 200,000. The flight itself lasts for about two hours, only a couple of minutes of which the passengers will be spent in weightlessness.
