Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko says that he has long known who poisoned him during the Presidential election campaign in his country in 2004.
In an interview with Helsingin Sanomat, Yushchenko, whose face still bears the marks caused by the toxin, says that it is a matter for the public prosecutor to announce the name.
President Yushchenko arrives in Finland on Wednesday this week for a summit meeting of his country and the European Union.
The President praises the EU for its support of the Orange Revolution in late 2004. However, he also criticises the EU for not opening its doors for Ukrainian EU membership, even though Turkey and the Balkan countries have been accepted as applicants.
The full interview with President Yushchenko will be included among our weekly feature articles on Tuesday.
