
Unemployment at 7.5% in July
The unemployment rate in Finland in July stood at 7.5%.
According to figures issued on Tuesday by Statistics Finland, the number of jobless last month was 206,000, or roughly 5,000 fewer than a year earlier.
The number of employed persons rose slightly: up by 27,000 from July 2009.
As well as the jobless rate, the figure for employment (persons aged 15 to 64) remained more or less stationary at 70.6%, compared with 70.3% twelve months ago.
The unemployment rate for young adults between the ages of 15 and 24 was 12.6%, marking a 2.4%-point drop in the year-on-year figures.
Regionally, the highest level of unemployment was found in Eastern Finland, where the rate stood at 10.8%.
