Some better news for a change on the employment front: the Valmet Automotive car plant in Uusikaupunki is looking to hire around 200 new workers. Valmet Automotive needs extra staff already this year. Currently, about 850 people work at the factory.
Extra workforce is needed both on the production and administrative side. More people will be hired because the factory’s production volumes of the Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid car are growing fast.
“We have positions available especially on the car assembly line, but also in the paint shop and in the logistics operations”, says Valmet Automotive Executive Vice President Risto Hukkanen in a press release.

Valmet Automotive will be needing new office employees on the planning side of things and to develop production in Uusikaupunki.
The company’s strategy emphasises design services offered to the automotive industry. According to the factory, there is more and more demand for such services.
