Volcanic ash could make unwelcome return at weekend

The ash from the volcano erupting under the Eyjafjallajokull glacier in Iceland could make an unwelcome return to Finnish airspace.
According to current forecasts from the Finnish Meteorological Institute, towards the end of the week the wiind will turn to blow from the north once more, meaning that the cloud of ash - which caused havoc to air travellers in April - could drift over Northern Finland.
Before the weekend, the predominant wind direction is from the east, bringing the warm weather we have been enjoying of late.
Elsewhere in Europe, passengers had another taste of what took place last month, with around 1,000 flights cancelled, according to Eurocontrol, the European Organsisation for the Safety of Air Navigation.
The ash affected normal flight routines most in Holland, Great Britain, and Ireland.
London's Heathrow and Gatwick Airports were both closed overnight on Sunday night and re-opened on Monday morning.
Schipol in Amsterdam and the Rotterdam The Hague Airport were closed until mid-afternoon.
