WHO? From immigrant to social worker and intermediary
Mukhtar Abib was born in 1972. He fled the civil war in Somalia and arrived in Finland in the summer of 1990.
Abib graduated as a social worker from the Helsinki City College of Social and Health Care in Malmi in 1996.
He was hired by the city’s Social Services Department to work as an intermediary between the authorities and the Somali community in 2001, when Somali teens committed plenty of crimes. The problem was alleviated through the cooperation.
