Warm weather set to continue in Finland
No records set, but temperatures nudged 20°C on Tuesday
The unusually warm weather is set to continue on Wednesday, the Finnish Meteorological Institute predicts.
However, the daytime temperature will remain a couple of degrees below Tuesday’s readings, which in places reached almost +20°C. Across Finland as a whole, the Tuesday temperatures were 8-10 degrees above what is average for this time of year.
Still, records were not broken this time. Last year the mercury climbed up to +24°C in mid-September.
So far the autumn has been somewhat rainy.
"There has been enough rain even to cause harm. For one, some crops remained unharvested in the fields this autumn because of the wet weather", says meteorologist Ari-Juhani Punkka from the Finnish Meteorological Institute.
"In a wider perspective, the weather has been somewhat capricious in character, ranging from extremely dry to exceptionally wet."
