Winter speed limits will take effect on highways in Southern Finland on Thursday and Friday this week.
The Finnish Road Administration says that lower nighttime speed limits will be implemented in the areas of Kanta-Häme, Päijät-Häme, Pirkanmaa, Satakunta, Finland Proper, Uusimaa, and East Uusimaa.

Speed limits of 120 km/h are to be lowered to 100 km/h, and maximum speeds of 100 km/h will come down to 80. In some areas, speed limits of 80 km/h will be brought down to 70 km/h.
The Finnish Road Administration also advises motorists of the importance of using winter tyres. Studded tyres are allowed in Finland between the first of November and the fourth of April.
