Purge is Finland’s entry for Foreign-Language Film Oscar

The movie Puhdistus (Purge), directed by Antti J. Jokinen, has been selected as the Finnish contender for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar. The film is based on author Sofi Oksanen’s award-winning novel of the same name.
      The script has been written by Marko Leino and Antti J. Jokinen, and the cast includes Laura Birn, Liisi Tandefelt, Amanda Pilke, Peter Franzén, Krista Kosonen, Tommi Korpela, Kristjan Sarv, and Tomi Salmela.
     
The Finnish jury, consisting of film professionals selected by the Finnish Chamber of Films, praised Puhdistus for its exceptionally fine storytelling.
      ”All the different aspects of filmmaking are executed with the utmost professionalism”, the jury continued.
      The Oscar finalists will be announced on January 10th, 2013, and the 85th Annual Academy Awards gala will be held on February 24th.
      Puhdistus premiered in Finland on September 7th, 2012.
