The trip through the back roads of Russian Karelia went through areas which were formerly a part of Finland. Some of the locations, such as Räisälä, Sairala, and Käkisalmi were given new names by the Russians. "Laatokka" is Lake Ladoga, and "Suomenlahti" is the Gulf of Finland. "Pietari" is St. Petersburg.
