Paula Radcliffe produced Great Britain's first and only gold medal of
the games on Sunday, with a stunning solo performance in the women's
marathon. She dominated from start to finish, winning in a fast time of
2.20.57, and thereby took some consolation for her disappointments in
Athens last year.
