Three locations have been proposed for Helsinki’s new Central Library. Postitalo = The Main Post Office, with entrances from several directions and fine indoor premises. However, the building is office-like with no possibilities for changes as it is protected under the Antiquities Act. Töölönlahti: The Töölönlahti Bay area offers a plot for a new building. However, the present plot should be combined with another plot currently owned by the state. Lasipalatsin aukio = the Lasipalatsi complex. The old valuable buildings have several entrances from various directions, but any additional construction would have to be made underground.
