Forged or bogus academic documents are not that hard to come by. A Finnish journalist secured a degree with a few telephone calls and a cash payment in an experiment carried out last year. A Finnish university nevertheless refused admission to a post-graduate course on the grounds that the university issuing the diploma did not exist.
