Helena Pohjola finds that telecommuting using a laptop at her holiday home works smoothly. She works for telecoms provider Elisa and spends a couple of days a month telecommuting in from her second home near Hämeenlinna. Calling the place a "cottage" would be a misnomer, since the house has practically the same creature comforts as her home in Helsinki or any other modern detached house. These days, too, one does not have to wait hours for the place to warm up on arrival, as the heating system can be switched on remotely via mobile phone.
