Around 200 people gathered on the steps of the Lutheran Cathedral in Helsinki's Senate Square in September to appeal to the international jury on behalf of Helsinki's candidacy to become World Design Capital (WDC) in 2012. "Welcome to Helsinki!" shouted the crowd as the closing scene of a video showing off Finnish design and architecture.
