In all there are five such statues of Paavo Nurmi, one of them in Switzerland. The statue close to the Olympic Stadium from 1952 is a popular rendezvous-point before events in the arena. Nurmi's back leg is extremely tempting for some people, and periodically the statue has to be repaired as his foot drags below the level of the plinth. The inscription is simple enough - just his name, no dates, no records, no medals. Everyone knows what he did.
