The labour dispute between Finnair and its pilots, which led to a strike which began on Monday, already led to the cancellation of a flight to Beijing on Saturday. Miguel Liso, Antonio Vidales, Guillem Calveras and Fabian Cordoba were flying Finnair from Barcelona to Beijing with a stopover in Helsinki, only to be told that the flight to Beijing was cancelled; the pilot had fallen ill, and no replacements were available because of an overtime ban by the pilots. The passengers were eventually rerouted.
