Sofi Oksanen seen in Tallinn at the end of last year. The 33-year-old writer was born in Jyväskylä to a Finnish father and Estonian mother, and the subject-matter of her hugely successful Puhdistus deals with the history of 20th century Estonia, seen through the lives of two women of different generations. Oksanen parted company with her publishers WSOY on bad terms in June, and has now apparently struck a deal with Helsinki publisher Teos.
