Social Democrat party secretary Mikael Jungner announced on Wednesday that he would not seek re-election at the party conference in May, citing the disappointing showing by the SDP candidate in the recent first round of the presidential election. Jungner was elected to the post in May 2010, and last year he oversaw a reasonable performance by the SDP in the Parliamentary elections, bring the party back from opposition and into the government coalition.
