Finnish host of Chechen rebel website: Security Police did not shut it down

The Finnish proprietor of the server through which the controversial Kavkaz Center Chechen rebel website operated for a few days announced on Monday that the decision to block the site last week was made within the company and without any outside influence.
The announcement was signed by the company's managing director Pertti Elvilä. An employee from the same firm had previously publicly declared that Finland's Security Police (SUPO) had pressured the company into disconnecting the Chechen site.
In Elvilä's view, SUPO contacted the company in a matter-of-fact manner, and Elvilä made the decision to disconnect the server at once.
According to Elvilä, his company does not pursue political activities that might contradict or contravene its business interests.
As the owner and managing director of the firm, Elvilä feels he is entitled to decide what goes on on its premises.
