Civil Aviation Authority to look into Copterline oversight

Civil Aviation Authority to look into Copterline oversight
The Ministry of Transport and Communications wants Finland’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to draw up a report on the shortcomings of oversight into the activities of the helicopter transport company Copterline.
The request was prompted by the accident investigation board report released on Monday on a fatal crash in August 2005, which found that the CAA had not monitored the activities of Copterline, especially its technical maintenance, adequately enough.

In their report, the Estonian investigators said that the problems that were found in inspections of the company were “left hanging”. The ministry now wants to know what the CAA plans to do about the shortcomings.
Two pilots and 12 passengers were killed when a Copterline helicopter crashed into the Gulf of Finland soon after takeoff from Tallinn in August 2005.
