Number of filed bankruptcies goes down in January-April
In January-April this year, a total of 1,030 bankruptcy petitions were filed in Finland.
According to Statistics Finland, this indicates a 6.3% decline in the number of cases compared with the same period in 2011.
The number of staff employed by all the companies that filed for bankruptcy stood at 4,095, which is down by 837 from a year ago.
In January-April, the number of filed bankruptcies went down in all of the examined main sectors compared with a year ago, apart from industry and "other services".
In numerical terms, the biggest decline in the number of filed bankruptcy cases was experienced in the field of commerce.
In the first four months of the year, 165 bankruptcy petitions were filed in the branch, which is 49 fewer than a year earlier.
The steepest rise in the number of bankruptcies was experienced in the industrial sector, where 129 bankruptcy petitions were filed, against 33 fewer in the same four-month period in 2011.
