Finnair has defended its pricing policy following a report by Matkalehti, a travel-oriented monthly, that the policy is unfair to passengers flying from Asian destinations to Finland. Tickets for a direct flight from Asia to Helsinki are more expensive than tickets for a flight from Asia to Rome via Helsinki, the magazine highlights. Similarly, passengers flying from Beijing via Helsinki to Kuusamo have to cough up 50 per cent more for their tickets than passengers connecting to Paris.
