Statistics published by the Finnish Customs indicate that the value of Finnish high-technology exports plummeted to 3.5 billion euros last year – marginally below the value recorded in the aftermath of the early 1990s recession in 1995. As a result, the high technology sector only accounted for six per cent of the value of all Finnish exports in 2013. The value of Finland's technology exports increased steadily when Nokia was at the height of its powers, peaking at nearly 12 billion euros in 2007 and at most representing over 20 per cent of the value of Finnish exports.
