Finland's honorary consul in Venice suspected of involvement in corruption scandal
Finland has stripped the honorary consul of his position as a representative of Finland. THE HONORARY consul of Finland in Venice, Nicola Falconi, has been placed under house arrest and stripped of his position as a representative of Finland following reports linking him to a widespread corruption scandal. The embassy of Finland in Rome has received confirmation of the suspicions. "Today [on 9 June], we received official information from the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs that this is the case," says Petri Tuomi-Nikula, the Finnish Ambassador in Italy.
