Long-term unemployment has increased sharply in the capital region, Helsinki Urban Facts revealed on Thursday. In Helsinki, the number of people who in late June had been without a job for a continuous period of at least 12 months increased by 53 per cent from the previous year. In Espoo, the year-on-year increase in long-term unemployment was even steeper – 70 per cent – and in Vantaa 23 per cent.
