The number of households mulling over buying a car has decreased considerably over the past decade. The share of households who are dreaming of a new car has declined from roughly 20 per cent in 2004 to no more than 15 per cent, according to consumer surveys conducted by Statistics Finland.

Surveys carried out by Danske Bank similarly indicate that the share of households mulling over buying a new car has dropped from 35 per cent last year to 33 per cent this year. “Today's low figures are due to the economic situation.
